Katie is a 10 lb doxie mix. She's between 4 - 6  years old. Katie and other dogs were kept in rabbit cages in the back yard/field.
She did have long black hair, but was shaved off due to matting.
Her front feet pads are red and puffy from standing in her own urine and whatever else. She walks very gingerly, especially on the deck wood or concrete.
Katie has mammary tumors that need to be removed.  The estimate for her surgery which is $515 to 595. This includes the spay and mammectomy.  One side of her chest is worse w/tumors ... which is the side we will do first. The other side will need to wait until she has healed from the first surgery. We need help with her vet bills..

UPDATE: 6.27/08
I had my spay and mammory surgery this week and I'm doing really well. Dr. Larry says he got all the tumors off of me and that he gives me a great chance now for a long healthy life. I am recovering at my foster mom's and she loves me so I know I will get well soon and be ready for some loving fur-ever home to take me and spoil me.
I'm a very quiet little girl and my potty training is coming along great. I like to walk around in the grass and check things out. I don't potty in my crate either.
So if you think you'd like to give me a home, foster mom says fill out an application! See ya soon!

Updated 6-28-08: Katie had her mammectomy and Dr. Larry was able to remove all the tumors on both sides, as well as spay her at the same time.  Katie was not able to become pregnant because her urterus was enlarged and she was in the beginning stages of urterin infection.  She would have had to have emergency surgery if she had not been spayed.
Her incision is from "stem to stern" as Dr. Larry put's it.  She is moving around real well ... you would not even know she had major surgery.  She is also walking better now that her pads are healing.
Katie is a very quiet little girl and got to sleep in a people bed for the first time and she loves it!  She loves to receive kisses and hugs, go for walks (but not too long until she heals) and loves doggie treats!
Katie needs a dental so if you are able to help with her vet bills, please go to our paypal button and Katie thanks you dearly
